Congregational Development Process -
It has been great to see our leadership grow over the past two sessions, and even more exciting to see how we are sharing this process with other churches and ministries. We are particularly excited to head into our 3rd session of the congregational development process at the end of this month, where we will define what a leader is and reflect personally on what qualities we each need to develop in ourselves if we are called to lead (as in leader) others to Christ. Please plan on attending.
Ha sido un gran gozo ver el crecimiento de nuestro liderazgo durante los últimos dos sesiones, y aún más impresionante de ver cómo compartimos este proceso con otras congregaciones y ministerios. En particular es muy emocional preparar para la tercera sesión del proceso de desarrollar nuestra congregación al fin de este mes cuando estudiaremos lo que es un líder y meditar personalmente en las calidades que tenemos que desarrollar en nosotros mismos si vamos a lidiar (como líder) a otros a Cristo. Presbyterian Church Connections - Conexiones con otras Iglesias Presbiterianas

Change is good - El Cambio es bueno
At our stated meeting in December, the session did their annual evaluation of Rev. Woods, and this year, Rev. Andy Wong. We talked about what growth we have seen each of them experience in 2013, and we challenged them about what God was calling them to do in 2014. Rev. Andy, who is our parish associate for evangelism led a team from GPC to identify the Bridge neighborhood, established initial contacts through soccer ministries, and has completed nearly 30 relational meetings with community members. He has grown in his courage and his ability to listen and hold himself accountable, but he recognized two things that he missed in 2013. 1 - He wanted to connect more of GPC members with his work and challenge the membership in their growth through that ministry, and 2 - he missed preaching.
Rev. Lindsay for her part celebrated her redefinition of call at GPC. Her entire approach over 2013 has been redefined through community organizing and she has had to grow a lot in recognizing her weaknesses and strengths. She celebrated identifying new leaders in the church and being able to reorganize her strategies so that her focus is centered on relational meetings inside and outside the church so that she can better hear God’s voice through others. For 2014, she honestly asked the session to help her grow in these relational meetings, sit with her to reflect, and hold her accountable to her dream of developing new leaders at GPC.
So, the session set out a change for 2014… Rev. Lindsay’s first task is to have relational meetings with every person she can in the GPC family (active, inactive, etc.) and to report back to the session on her progress. They promised to make themselves available for those visits too. Next, Rev. Andy will preach once a month at GPC to connect us more with his work at the Bridge and help identify individuals called to work with him. Those weeks that Rev. Andy preaches, Rev. Lindsay will get the challenging task of doing 5 extra relational meetings outside of GPC so that she can grow in courage, discernment, and in her ability to identify new leaders and develop them. Please pray for all of us in this new journey!
En nuestra reunión regular en diciembre, el consistorio hizo su evaluación de la Revda. Woods y este año del Revdo. Andy Wong. Hablamos del crecimiento en ellos en 2013, y les desafiamos acerca del llamado de Dios en 2014. Revdo. Andrés, que es nuestro asistente parroquial para evangelismo, guió un equipo de IPG a identificar el vecindario del Puente, estableció contactos iniciales a través de ministerios de fútbol, y cumplió casi 30 visitas relacionales con miembros de la comunidad. Creció en su valor y su habilidad de escuchar a otros y responsabilidad, pero reconoció 2 cosas que le faltó en 2013. 1- Quería conectar más miembros de IPG con su trabajo y desafiarlos de crecer a través de ese ministerio, y 2 - le faltó predicar.
Revda. Lindsay por su parte celebró la nueva definición de su llamado en IPG. Su trabajo en 2013 cambió a través de las lecciones de organizar comunidades y ha crecido bastante en reconocer sus debilidades y fuerzas. Celebró identificar a nuevos líderes en la congregación y su habilidad de reorganizar sus estrategias para enfocarse más en visitas relacionales dentro y afuera de la congregación para oír la voz de Dios mejor. Para 2014, pidió al consistorio ayuda en esas visitas, su apoyo en reflejar con ella, y la responsabilidad de desarrollar a nuevos líderes este año en IPG.
Entonces, el consistorio hizo un cambio para 2014 - La primera tarea de Revda. Woods será visitas relacionales con cada persona que es parte de la familia de IPG (activo, inactivo, etc.) y compartir con el consistorio su progreso. Los ancianos prometieron estar disponibles para esas visitas también. Segundo, Revdo. Andrés va a predicar una vez al mes para conectarnos más con su trabajo en el Puente y para identificar a individuos dispuestos a trabajar con él en ese asunto. Estas semanas que Revdo. Pastoral Note - Una nota pastoral
At the end of October I sat down and had a lovely visit with Veronica Sargeant. We ate lunch, shared about our lives, and our struggles in faith. Veronica shared that after much discernment and prayer her family decided to transfer their membership to First Presbyterian Church, Fort Worth, where they had been attending for a couple of months. Summer has found a place in their youth group where she has made friends and has been growing in her faith, and Veronica officially moved her membership in order to be able eventually to serve as a sponsor for that youth group. We talked about their reasons and struggles and why God might be calling them there at this stage of their lives, recognizing that we are all part of the same body of Christ and that when God calls us new places it is not to burn bridges, but to build new ones. We prayed together and remain in good contact. As pastor, I, Rev. Lindsay, was able to sit and talk with two of the pastors over at First, Fort Worth, to make sure that the Sargeants are well received and attended to and so that they can have personal relationships well established with that pastoral leadership. We send the Sargeants off with our prayers for their spiritual growth and whatever God will continue to do in their lives.

Veronica compartió que después de mucho discernimiento y oración su familia decidió cambiar su membrecía para la Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana de Fort Worth donde habían sido asistiendo por algunos meses. Summer participa en su grupo de jóvenes y tiene amigos y crece en su fe, y Veronica oficialmente cambió su membrecía para ser un mentor en el grupo de jóvenes. Hablamos de sus razones y luchas y por qué Dios les llama a mover en este momento de sus vidas, reconociendo que todos somos del mismo cuerpo de Cristo y que Dios no nos mueve para quemar puentes sino para construirlas. Terminamos en oración y guardamos contacto bueno. Como pastora, yo, Revda. Lindsay, visité con dos de los pastores de Primera Iglesia Presbiteriana Fort Worth para asegurarme que los Sargeant van a recibir cuidado pastoral suficiente y para establecer buenas relaciones con el liderazgo pastoral allí. Mandamos a la familia Sargeant con nuestras oraciones para su crecimiento espiritual y el cuidado de Dios en sus vidas.
